A WARM FALL SEASON IN SICILY

Italy is a big country and its southern regions enjoy an especially pleasant climate, which allows for beach holidays any time from the beginning of April until the end of October.

In September and October you can still swim in the Mediterranean thanks to the fact that the temperatures in the South can reach 28°C (83°F).

Visiting Southern Italy also means diving into 2500 years of history.

And it's just impossible to list everything there is to admire there.

The southern Italian regions -perhaps even more than the northern ones- have been subject to the influences and occupations of other peoples.

On your trip you will be able to admire the results of strong Greek and Arabic influences in Sicily, plus the Spanish and French ones almost everywhere else.

Camper Company's proposal to discover southern Italy originally includes a two-week trip, but you can customize the plan and add an additional week.

Your arrival is expected at the airport of Naples (but you can request delivery of the RV in Rome too!).

There you'll find our staff waiting for you, with all the details of your trip.

Here are a few trip ideas you could include in your trip:

2-3 days A tour of Naples, you can stop in a campsite near the seaside. From here you can decide to take a trip to the beautiful islands of Capri and Ischia and then move to Pompeii, the Roman city covered by the lava of Vesuvius. You cannot forget the Royal Palace of Caserta, the historic royal palace, with its wonderful adjoining park, built in the eighteenth century by the king of Naples and Sicily. It's the largest royal residence in the world by volume!

1-2 days Visit the Basilicata region where you'll find the Sassi of Matera (prehistoric houses declared World Heritage Sites) which were used as sets for a few famous films (like The Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson or the last 007 movie). From here you can move to the white beaches of Maratea, but Basilicata is rich in natural wonders, such as the beaches of Metaponto or Policoro. And do not miss the Pollino national park!

2-3 days After Basilicata, you can move to Puglia (If we think of Italy as a boot, Puglia is its heel). Its capital city is Bari where in the old part of the city with its narrow streets you can eat the pasta called orecchiette -which means little ears. Here there is also the Cathedral of St. Nicholas open to Catholic and Orthodox worship. You cannot miss the city of Alberobello with the Trulli, cylindrical houses, but also the very numerous and beautiful beaches and the Castellana Caves

2-3 days Continuing down south you will end up in Calabria The first stop there could only be at the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria. It's the most representative museum of Magna Graecia, but in reality it houses artifacts ranging from prehistoric times up to the Roman conquest, such as the famous Riace Bronzes discovered in 1972. The two statues represent two bronze warriors almost 2 meters high and they are beautifully preserved. There are also many beautiful stretches of coastline, the most famous one being Tropea.

7-9 days Sicily is a very large region with its 900 km of coastline. Rich in history and natural wonders, it is impossible to make a complete list of what to see there. Its climate is affected by its relative proximity to Africa. Arriving in Sicily you cannot fail to visit the lively Catania, the Etna volcano still in activity, the town of Taormina. Many cities in Sicily are known for their Baroque style palaces. Palermo is very rich in historic and important buildings such as the Norman palace and the many churches, which inspired the works of fashion design brand Dolce&Gabbana through the years. Agrigento instead will make you feel like you just arrived in Greece with its Valley of the Temples. The list of places not to be missed includes the cities of Modica, Noto, Ragusa, Cefalù, the medieval villages of Trapani and Erice.

The Camper Company offer includes for any RV in our fleet, a cost of €1,155 per week with no km limits, free bed linen kit and tableware included, besides the delivery to the Naples or Rome airport already included in the price.
